Discover Brussels through drawing!

This summer, for a limited time, I’m offering urban sketching session inspired by the city's most interesting neighbourhoods and their artistic history. We'll explore at a gentle pace, stopping to sketch together, and share our drawings at the end. Along the way, I'll explain simple techniques to capture atmosphere, while telling stories about the artists who have been inspired by these places.

Come away with a few pages in your sketchbook, and a fresh perspective on Brussels. Having a drawing practice is not mandatory to participate, but you’ll have to come prepared with a sturdy sketchbook and the materials you are familiar with or want to explore - whether it’s just a pen, watercolour pencils or pastels.

A live portrait experience…

Have you ever wanted a special portrait of yourself or a loved one? Come visit my studio in Brussels!

How does it work? We'll take a moment to talk about what you'd like the drawings to capture; whether it's the celebration of a relationship, reaching an important milestone, or a keepsake. Then you’ll sit for me for 3 sessions of 10-15 min, which will result in 3 different drawings in 3 different poses.

Why 3 drawings and poses? Unlike a traditional commissioned portrait, drawing from life is a wonderfully immediate process. I work in an iterative process allowing for each sketch to capture a different gesture, expression or moment, and to explore different compositions. More often than not, one drawing has a particular spark, but many people end up treasuring the entire series as a record of the shared experience.

At the end of the session, you’ll leave with the original signed artwork.
